浅草繁栄の歴史と風景をとらえる網The Nets Capturing the History and Landscape of Prosperity in Asakusa
浅草神社の社紋であり、浅草地域一帯の歴史に深く関わる「三網紋」をモチーフとして、氏子と観光客が一緒になって編み、飛鳥時代に遡る浅草の由来を現在進行形で表現しました。今から1400年前、もともと海辺の小さな漁村であった浅草は、地元の兄弟漁師の網にかかった観音様を祀ったところから現在の繁栄へとつながっていきます。浅草神社の境内で編まれ、掲げられた〈そらあみ〉は、現在は観光地となり知る由もない、かつての海辺の風景のようで、 歴史の中で止まっていた時間が動きはじめたように感じられました。Using the Asakusa shrine’s crest “Mitsuami Mon” which has long been a motif representing the Asakusa area, locals and tourists knitted a Sora-ami to connect the roots of Asakusa from the Asuka period with the present.
About 1,400 years ago, Asakusa used to be a small fishing village by the sea. Its continuing prosperity began when people worshiped a Kannon statue caught in a fishing net by local fishermen brothers. Sora-ami knitted and displayed in the shrine recalled its former seaside landscape, which was totally different from its current status as a sightseeing spot. I could feel the time stop and history begin again.
