愛知大学文学部現代文化コース必修科目「表現実習」として実施。履修生約50〜80名が参加し、毎年引き継ぎながら3年かけて編み足していきました。1、2年目は豊橋キャンパス研究館の中庭空間中空に設置。3年目は芝生広場に水平に設置し、ともに制作したハンモックに寝転んで作品を楽しみました。大学の真ん中に設置された作品はキャンパス全体の雰囲気を明るくしているように感じられました。学生たちは、東日本大震災後の東北も含め世界各地で展開されている〈そらあみ〉についての話を聞き、「編む」「つなぐ」という行為が持つ意味について考え、海に接した町である地元豊橋を見つめ直しました。Held as a required subject “Practice of Expression” for Contemporary Culture Course in Faculty of Letters of Aichi University. It took 3 years to complete the work by extending the net knitted by students by 50 to 80 students per year. In the first and second years of the project, the work was suspended over the courtyard in the Toyohashi Campus. In the third year, it was displayed horizontally on a lawn field and they enjoyed watching it while lying in the hammock they had also knitted. I could feel that the work displayed in the middle of the university added a note of cheerfulness to the atmosphere of the whole campus. In this project, the students heard about the story of Sora-ami expanding in various places over the world including the Tohoku area after the Great East Japan Earthquake. It prompted them to think about what the meaning of the act of “knitting” and “connecting,” and reflect upon their town Toyohashi, which is also adjacent to the sea.
